The number two on the list for the Cabildo of PSOE of Lanzarote, Ariagona González, has denounced "the dirty campaign" launched by the candidate of Coalición Canaria to the highest island body Oswaldo Betancort resorting to Pedro San Ginés and the media group of Juan Francisco Rosa.
González recalled that attacks against the PSOE and misrepresentations of its proposals are common in the media of the Rosa media group, but, "in recent days they have completely exceeded all admissible limits."
The socialist spokesperson explained that, last Friday, this media published "a news" in which it stated, despite the questions in the title, that Loli Corujo would have hidden reports and falsified contracts so that the Assembly of the Water Consortium of Lanzarote and the Board of Directors of INALSA agreed to initiate criminal actions against Pedro San Ginés for having enriched his friend Ignacio Calatayud at the expense of public funds.
"Pedro San Ginés already made these accusations, months ago, within the investigation that is being followed against him and requested several testimonies but both the investigating judge and the Provincial Court considered the existence and content of these reports irrelevant and denied all the proposed requests for evidence, considering that there was no irregular behavior on the part of the president," he revealed.
Now, months later, "the false and deceitful story of San Ginés appears in this media group, at the service of Oswaldo Betancort and in the middle of the election campaign, as if it were a novel fact investigated by the media, trying to undermine the image of the socialist candidate before the citizens in moments of special importance."
"This despicable behavior has continued with the publication of an authentic falsehood disguised as a press release from Coalición Canaria, in which the agreement adopted by the Water Consortium of Lanzarote with the family of Benjamín Perdomo is blatantly manipulated to put an end to the judicial procedure, lost by the Consortium, which forced the public body to hand over to its legitimate owners an occupied property near the town of Órzola, where the tank and pipes that supply the aforementioned population center are located," the PSOE cited in a statement.
"The agreement with the owners of the property has been transparent. It was negotiated by the lawyers of both parties and the Consortium has an official appraisal and the technical and legal reports that support the purchase of the property and the agreed price," González detailed.
"But what already elevates this press release to indecency is that the representatives of Teguise and Tinajo in the Assembly of the Consortium, both belonging to Coalición Canaria, voted in favor of the agreement reached with the property."
For the socialist spokesperson, these "calumnious and totally false attacks reveal the panic of Oswaldo Betancort in the face of the foreseeable disappointment that the results obtained by his candidacy will bring next Sunday, so he is resorting to the worst practices trying to wear down the candidacy of the Socialist Party."
"Above the election results is respect for the rules of the game and democracy itself," said Ariagona González, who has reproached Oswaldo Betancort for resorting to a multi-indicted for corruption and false accusation."
González has expressed her conviction that "a red line has been crossed and Oswaldo Betancort has crossed it by using Pedro San Ginés to tarnish the campaign. They want to repeat with the family of Benjamín Perdomo what they did with Antonio González and Carlos Espino but they will find the Socialist Party in front of them."
Finally, she warned: "We are not going to allow those who have covered up San Ginés' corruption to play with the good name of honest people when they have been unable to give a satisfactory explanation about the enrichment of Ignacio Calatayud, the advantageous conditions with which Pedro San Ginés supposedly acquired his home and the payment in black money that he himself acknowledges. These miserable maneuvers will have very harsh consequences."
