The deputy secretary and spokesperson for the Insular Executive Commission of the PSOE of Lanzarote, Cristina Duque, has accused the Popular Party of trying to hide its corruption by sowing doubts about the contracting, through a tender, of a company in which Ariagona González is a minority shareholder.
Cristina Duque has pointed out that the objective of this statement is none other than to try to spread a smokescreen ahead of the holding of an Extraordinary Plenary Session on the scandal starring Ángel Vázquez.
"Here, those who have tried to nepotize relatives are Ángel Vázquez, Yonathan de León, and Eli Merino, and that is what has the Popular Party on edge," Duque highlighted.
Regarding the demand for accountability from the Socialist Party made by the Popular Party, the socialist deputy secretary was forceful: "The declaration of assets that Ariagona González submitted to the Cabildo Secretariat makes her minority participation in the family business very clear; it is something known and that she has never hidden. Furthermore, she has never participated in the award procedures as a counselor, nor has she submitted offers, signed contracts, or collected invoices, as she remains completely outside the management of the family business."
Duque has pointed out that Ariagona's family business has been supplying materials and providing services to practically all public administrations on the island for thirty years, participating in public tenders with complete transparency.
"My colleague's actions are irreproachable, unlike what happens with public officials from the Popular Party. It is simply repugnant that those who should be giving explanations and asking for forgiveness from the citizens try to sow doubts," explained the socialist spokesperson, who concluded by stating:
"The Popular Party's statement only intends to silence the PSOE ahead of the Extraordinary Plenary Session requested to demand explanations about Ángel Vázquez's conduct, but they will not silence us. The Socialist Party will continue to denounce the corruption of the Popular Party," she concluded.
