The former Deputy Minister of Justice of the Government of the Canary Islands, Francisco Rodríguez Batllori, faces a request for eight years in prison. That is the penalty requested by the Prosecutor's Office, which has already filed the indictment on this piece of the "Unión" case, which investigates the payment of invoices for allegedly unperformed work.

In addition, according to the Europa Press agency, the Prosecutor's Office is asking for six years in prison for the historical leader of the PIL, Dimas Martín, accused of influencing public officials of his party to pay these "fraudulent" invoices from the Arrecife City Council and the public water company Inalsa.

According to Europa Press, the Prosecutor's Office accuses Dimas and Batllori of two counts of fraud (one for each institution that paid those invoices), in conjunction with the crimes of embezzlement and malfeasance. In total, it is asking for six years in prison for them (three for each of those two crimes). In addition, for Batllori, it is requesting another two years in prison, for another alleged continued crime of falsifying a commercial document.

According to the Prosecutor's Office, Inalsa and Arrecife paid invoices to Rodríguez Batllori, when in reality he had not provided those alleged services. In fact, the investigation carried out by the UCO maintained that, in reality, what was being paid with public money were the private services provided to Dimas by Batllori, in his capacity as a lawyer.

Along with them, the former Councilor of Finance of Arrecife for the PIL, José Miguel Rodríguez, who confessed to the facts, is also accused in this case; the former Councilor of Personnel and Internal Affairs, María Luisa Blanco; the former CEO of Inalsa, Plácida Guerra; and the former manager of Inalsa, Rafael Elorrieta Larrea, although so far the penalty requested for them has not been revealed.
