The Popular Party has requested the "urgent appearance" of the president of the Cabildo, María Dolores Corujo, and the Minister of Sports, Alfredo Mendoza, for their "inability to manage the authorization for the celebration of the XX edition of the Isla de los Volcanes Rally scheduled for this weekend."
"That they give an account of the disastrous management they have carried out when processing the authorization for the rally and that has finally ended up being canceled", they criticize from the Popular Party.
"It is outrageous that, hours before the start of this edition of the rally, the Cabildo has not been able to issue the authorization to allow the normal development of a sporting event that last year was held without any problem and in the same terms”, criticizes the councilor, Jacobo Medina.
“It is an absolute disgrace that the Psoe-Podemos government is not able to clearly determine the celebration of a classic sporting event already on the island's automotive calendar and that it has become entangled in reports and counter-reports until practically the very moment of its celebration”, says Medina.
“We cannot believe what is happening because what has happened is unprecedented”, questions the popular councilor, who assures that they "understand and share the great anger that the organizers of the event, the participants, the press displaced to cover the event and the thousands of fans from the island and abroad have right now who have found that the rally will not be able to be held".
“We are not talking about a last-minute setback, we are talking about a sporting event of national and international relevance, in which many people and companies are involved, which also generates significant income for the island's economy and that, without eating or drinking it, have been involved in the ineptitude of the government of Dolores Corujo who has been unable to get the rally going”, concludes Jacobo Medina.
