The spokesperson for the Popular Party in the Yaiza City Council, Juan Monzón, has highlighted "the negligence" of the Óscar Noda Government regarding the management of entrances to the Los Ajaches Natural Monument in the middle of August, which is when the most visits and vehicle traffic are recorded.
According to Monzón, "the lack of personnel cannot be an excuse for the control post to remain closed to the public two days a week during the summer period." “The government has enough experience to know that at this time the number of visitors multiplies because residents who are going to spend a day at the beach, camping users and tourists who are on vacation on the island converge, so the entrance control should be operating seven days a week,” defends the councilor.
“We are not talking about an unforeseen situation but the usual tone of each summer that the municipal government must have planned to arbitrate the necessary measures to guarantee the quality of the service, which, by the way, the Tourism Councilor, Daniel Medina, should be especially monitoring,” say from the ranks of the southern PP.
“It is no longer a matter of not collecting tickets for two days, but the fact that those two days there is no control of the vehicles that enter and leave, nor of the parking area, nor is any information offered to visitors who enter this spectacular protected space,” says Monzón, who considers that this fact "devalues the image of the Natural Monument."
In this sense, they regret that "Councilor Daniel Medina is focused only on local festivals and is neglecting what also affects him as head of Tourism." “In a first-class tourist municipality like Yaiza, we cannot allow ourselves to give this image of neglect and the councilor should be the first to worry that visitors receive the attention they deserve and the information regarding the basic rules that they must comply with,” he concludes.
