The Popular Party of Yaiza has criticized what it considers a "waste and unnecessary presence" of four members of the government group at the International Tourism Fair, FITUR 2023, which is being held this week in Madrid. "And it is that finally the representation of the City Council in the tourism fair by UPY and CC is once again more like the Fitur of the excesses of the past than the professional promotion of the municipality and the island that is done in these times", say the popular representatives.
“To strengthen political alliances with the general secretary of the PSOE, Dolores Corujo, and take photos with the new political friends, one does not go to Madrid at the expense of taxpayers' money, which in this case are the residents of Yaiza”, says the councilor and general secretary of the PP of Yaiza, Guayo Rodríguez.
In this sense, Rodríguez considers it a "waste of public money" that "up to four members of the municipal government have traveled to an event of these characteristics when, precisely, the bulk of the promotion is carried out directly from the Foreign Promotion Society of which the Yaiza City Council is a part".
“We understand that Yaiza must have institutional representation at the fair, but for this it is not necessary for the Tourism Councilor, Ángel Domínguez, the Culture Councilor, Daniel Medina, and the Sports Councilor, Ángel Lago, to go, in addition to the mayor; a completely out of place delegation no matter how you look at it”.
From the Popular Party of Yaiza they consider that "the instability of the government due to the political squabbles that UPY maintains with CC is already causing enough damage to the municipality, so that on top of that there is half a government absent from the City Council”, since these four councilors are joined by a councilor who is on vacation.
Guayo Rodríguez defends that “the residents of Yaiza do not deserve such an irresponsible government, which has spent half of the term more focused on the messes and political movements than on managing and solving the many problems that the municipality has”.
