The Popular Party Group in the Cabildo of Lanzarote and La Graciosa criticize that "the government of Dolores Corujo has kept the Papagayo campsite closed for months, thus contravening the plenary mandate by which it committed to opening the facilities throughout the year.”

“Once again, Dolores Corujo has lied to the citizens”, says the councilor and PP candidate for the presidency of the Cabildo, who highlights that “at the opening of the campsite last Easter, it was announced that for the first time in history it would remain open throughout the year”.

“What we did not imagine is that at this moment, with Easter just around the corner, the campsite was going to be closed, leaving lovers of this type of leisure and tourism without a possible alternative”, acknowledges the PP councilor.

For the Populars, it is “inconceivable” that the government of the Cabildo is incapable of launching the campsite and maintaining it with all the necessary services that this type of facility usually offers to users. “It is even more serious to have it closed when there are no more areas enabled for this practice on the island”, Medina points out. “We are facing an incompetent government that does not offer alternatives to the hundreds of caravans and motorhomes that demand spaces where they can stay regularly and without harming anyone.”

The candidate for the presidency highlights that "nothing has been advanced for almost a year and the ordinance to regulate camping and campsites in the island territory will be submitted for public display on a provisional basis."
