This Friday, the Popular Party presented the candidacy for the Tías City Council, headed by KiKo Aparicio, in a public event at the El Fondeadero Civic Center that brought together more than 300 people. Surrounded by his colleagues and, mostly, residents of the municipality, Aparicio brought the crowded hall to its feet on more than one occasion, the first of which was when he pointed out that next May 28 "the PP will once again regain the government of Tías." "On May 28, Tias will leave behind old policies and unfulfilled promises. Tías wants a change, a real change, with the Popular Party."

The local president and candidate for Mayor pointed out that the municipality has lost four very valuable years, highlighting that "faced with apathy; the PP of Tías brings illusion; faced with reluctance; the PP puts in work; faced with the policies of the past, we propose experience, modernity and future, in short, a government for the new times."

Kiko Aparicio insisted that Tías needs to regain the leadership it had a few years ago and that it has lost with the socialist government, with a mayor who in 20 years of government has not been able to define a municipal project that guarantees the quality of life of citizens. "The more than 20,000 residents of Tías need a new generation of politicians who work to modernize the municipality and place infrastructure and services at the level they demand and deserve," he said.

With an audience completely dedicated to the candidate, Kiko Aparicio stressed that this great municipality "must aspire to the best, to efficiency in all areas; in our public services, in transport, in education, in health, in sports and cultural infrastructure. We must strengthen our sea and our countryside; small businesses and everything that generates employment and opportunities for our young people."

"Our goal is none other than to ensure that Tías once again becomes a vanguard, an island point of reference, a benchmark of economic and tourist prominence; of new public investments; a benchmark of solidarity and social guarantees for the most vulnerable; of respect and care for our people, and of cultural, sporting and social quality. This is the municipality that we want and for which this experienced, young and prepared team is going to fight," he said amid applause from those present and before announcing the main proposals of his government program.

For his part, the candidate for the presidency of the Cabildo, Jacobo Medina, took over from Aparicio, making himself available to him "because on May 28, the PP will be in the municipal government and also in the presidency of the institution, so we will work side by side for the municipality you want to build." Medina stressed in his speech the projects carried out in the municipality of Tías during his time as Minister of Public Works, highlighting the importance that the doubling of the LZ-40 road between the Airport and Puerto del Carmen will have in the next term, with the incorporation of a second lane.

Finally, the island president and candidate for Parliament, Astrid Pérez, was openly proud of the team presented by Kiko Aparicio, "a young person with an innate ability to successfully meet all the challenges he sets himself." "Kiko is tireless, 100 percent committed to his neighbors and always available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, which makes him the best candidate and the best mayor for his municipality."

The head of the list for Parliament for the constituency of Lanzarote and La Graciosa also addressed during her speech the issue of irregular immigration, which has become the information protagonist of the week due to the increase in the arrival of boats. "From the Popular Party we are going to continue demanding an effective migration policy from both the State and the Government of the Canary Islands, in the part that corresponds to it," said Pérez, who insisted on the commitment that Manolo Domínguez maintains with our island in this regard. "Lanzarote is the island most affected by the arrival of immigrants to the Canary Islands and for the moment we do not see adequate facilities or sufficient personnel for their care," she said.
