The People's Party of San Bartolomé presented, on Thursday morning in the Extraordinary Plenary Session held, a total of nine amendments worth half a million euros to the General Budget project presented by the San Bartolomé Government Group. Accounts that, as reflected, allocate practically the same amount to real investments as to Festivities.
The spokesperson for the popular party in the San Bartolomé City Council, Jeziel Martín, lamented that this budget arrives "late and badly." "It has taken the 'absolute majority,' as their Finance Councilor likes to say, two and a half years to present a budget project for the municipality, and they have done so without reflecting the reality of the municipality's residents," assured the spokesperson, who places special emphasis on the item allocated to Advertising and Propaganda, which amounts to 240,000 euros.
"It is a real shame and an insult to the intelligence of the residents that, while there are countless problems to solve in Güime, El Islote, Montaña Blanca, Playa Honda, and the center of San Bartolomé; the mayor is allocating such a high amount of money for propaganda," criticized the popular councilor.
Half a million euros in solutions
In this regard, and thus once again fulfilling the opposition role by the People's Party, the popular councilors have presented 9 amendments worth 500,000 euros that do respond to the reality of groups, associations, sports clubs, and the reality of the municipality.
Regarding the amendments presented, the creation of a Municipal Plan to Aid Young Renters, endowed with 300,000 euros, stands out; or a new allocation of 120,000 euros to subsidize renewable energy installations in homes.
Likewise, in the area of associative and commercial fabric, the People's Party's allegations requested an increase of 10,000 euros for the Association of Commerce and Entrepreneurs of San Bartolomé Ajey (ACEA); as well as an increase of 5,000 euros for the Cultural and Musical Association EMINE "ACUME"; and an improvement of 3,000 euros for the Sociedad El Porvenir, understood as an emblematic meeting place for all generations of San Bartolomé.
Grassroots and elite sports occupy a central place in the set of amendments, highlighting the proposal to increase by 15,000 euros the earmarked subsidy to the Zonzamas Handball Club; as well as 10,000 euros for both the San Bartolomé Wrestling Club, in recognition of their recent League and Cup titles, and for the San Bartolomé Football Club, with the aim of consolidating their project in Tercera División RFEF and strengthening their youth academy.
These improvements are complemented, moreover, by an additional allocation of 27,000 euros specifically for the maintenance of municipal sports facilities, with which it is intended to correct the current deterioration of courts and multi-sports facilities that poses a risk to users.
