The Cabildo of Lanzarote announces that the future Playa Honda Urban Park, specifically in the current esplanade of Playa Honda, will have "54 parking spaces, plus four reserved for people with reduced mobility" (PMR) and also "a loading and unloading area."
In addition, "65 spaces and 2 PMR in the soccer field are maintained, and 145 spaces, 8 PMR and two parking spaces are created" for electric vehicles in the new road of the Urban Park.
“It is a priority, from the Government group of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, to address the deficiencies in terms of mobility and accessibility of citizens”, an objective that “we have to achieve by working hand in hand with municipal institutions”, says Oswaldo Betancort, who assures that from the Corporation “economic items will be increased destined for cooperation plans with the different city councils.”
“This is a large-scale project, which not only locates the parking lots in the Playa Honda esplanade area, but also creates a new road in the vicinity of the Urban Park”, explains the councilor, Jacobo Medina, who has visited the area together with the Councilor for Works of San Bartolomé, Raúl de León, and the Councilor for Urban Planning, Marlene Romero.
“This great green lung will combine garden, shade and recreation areas with more than enough parking so that all the residents of the island can enjoy it”, adds Medina.
It should be remembered that last August the paving work began on the new Playa Honda Urban Park, a work drafted in 2021 and for which the Cabildo of Lanzarote allocates an amount of "three million euros", financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), within the Sustainable Urban Development strategy 'Conurban Azul' of the program 'Sustainable Growth Operational 2014-2020'.
