The town of Uga is about to premiere a new large children's play area, accessible and inclusive, of "490 square meters of surface". It will have "a zip line and interactive game, among other elements" that promote "recreational activity", as announced by Óscar Noda.
The mayor, on the morning of this Wednesday, checked the progress of the works together with the Councilor for Parks, Rubén Arca, and the person in charge of the company executing this project awarded for "298,000 euros, 96,000 less than the base budget of the tender", co-financed between the Yaiza City Council and the Cabildo of Lanzarote with charge to the 'Municipal Cooperation Plan 2022'.
Óscar Noda values the "benefit of the new infrastructure" pointing out that "the park has an access that facilitates the use of schoolchildren from the Uga school in the morning and another independent entrance for the use and enjoyment of neighbors in general throughout the day".
Councilor Rubén Arca reports that "the project, in addition to being accessible and inclusive, includes structures for the installation of shade areas as we have been doing in the municipal plan for the renovation and implementation of parks that progresses in the intervention of twenty-four children's play and bio-healthy areas in different towns of Yaiza".
On the other hand, the mayor signed this same Wednesday "the contract for the installation of the inclusive children's park in the Uga picnic area for 179,000 euros", a further investment that in this case represents "a saving of 61,000 euros" with respect to the base budget of the tender. The project, highlights the Councilor for Parks, "provides lighting with LED solar streetlights and a charging point for mobiles and other portable devices powered by a sustainable photovoltaic installation". This park is co-financed between Yaiza and the Cabildo within the framework of the 2023 Cooperation Plan.
Call for care
The Yaiza City Council insists on "the care of children's parks, sports facilities and recreation areas" in general "because they are infrastructures intended for citizen service, especially for our youngest population, and it is unacceptable that we see damage resulting from improper use or acts of vandalism that make no sense". In recent days, both the Playa Blanca football field and the La Degollada picnic area have been the object of "actions unworthy of a society that cares for its interests".
In this sense, the mayor makes a new call for "sensitivity asking for the collaboration of neighbors so that we are all jealous of the goods and spaces of common use". "Yaiza is the most investing municipality in Lanzarote and the execution of the projects is the result of citizen effort", he concludes.
