The director of the Canary Islands Health Service (SCS), Adasat Goya, visited this Monday, along with the director of the Lanzarote Health Area, Erasmo García, the new **Computed Tomography** (CT) equipment that has been launched by the Doctor José Molina Orosa University Hospital, a center affiliated with the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands,
The state-of-the-art device has been acquired by the Lanzarote Health Services Management for €488,735, to which an additional investment of €86,000 has been added for the necessary works to adapt the Radiology service rooms, essential for its installation.
Precision technology and improved image resolution
The new CT scanner replaces one of the two units the department has. It is a high-end model that allows for highly complex studies and offers greater image resolution. Among its main advantages are the use of innovative tools such as a control tablet and GO technologies, which facilitate and optimize the work of healthcare professionals
It also uses low-dose technology with a tin filter, which allows for dose reduction of up to sixty percent while maintaining image quality and detail visualization, along with rapid image reconstructionThe team also has an additional camera that allows for a full view of the patient. This technology, based on artificial intelligence, guarantees optimal precision in patient positioning, improves procedural efficiency, and contributes to higher image quality and radiation dose optimizationIn addition, the new scanner integrates other innovative solutions, such as the remote control and a renewed workstation design, which provide greater flexibility and mobility during tests and improve patient comfort during the study.
Response to the demand for care
During the visit, the director of the Canary Islands Health Service highlighted that this state-of-the-art equipment responds "to the public health system's commitment to continuous improvement and to the Hospital Molina Orosa's commitment to innovation and quality of care." For his part, the hospital's medical director, Luis Carlos Moreno, pointed out that the new CT scanner strengthens the service's capacity for performing these diagnostic tests and facilitates specific examinations with a lower dose of radiation, which benefits patient well-being and improves their care experience.
