Last Wednesday, the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium organized a training day within the framework of World Cardiac Arrest Day. Under the slogan With your hands you can save a life, the event took place at the Open Mall Shopping Center in Arrecife, where cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) workshops were given to raise awareness among the population about the importance of acting quickly in the event of a cardiac emergency.
Throughout the day, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., attendees had the opportunity to learn and practice CPR maneuvers in 25-minute sessions. These workshops were part of the Consortium's campaign to educate citizens in basic techniques that can significantly increase the chances of survival in cardiac arrest situations.
5th grade students from CEIP Adolfo Topham were the stars of the morning, actively participating in the first training workshops. This activity allowed them to learn in a practical way how to act in the crucial first minutes of a cardiac arrest until the arrival of the emergency services.
In the afternoon, the day included an artistic presentation by the dance group directed by Daniel de la Rosa, who performed the choreography You Can Help. This intervention sought, in a creative and dynamic way, to reinforce knowledge about cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers among those present.
The president of the Consortium, Francisco Aparicio, highlighted the importance of these conferences: “Every minute counts in a cardiac emergency. These actions not only provide the population with vital tools, but also help to create a culture of prevention and rapid action, essential to save lives.”
