The Cabildo of Lanzarote, through the Ministry of Public Works, has informed of the temporary closure of the final section of the LZ-402 road (Las Amapolas – Caleta de Famara) starting this Monday, December 15, 2025, due to the execution of comprehensive road surface rehabilitation works. The closure will affect the section between the roundabout near the Teguise Agri-industrial Complex and the entrance to the urban center of Caleta de Famara, remaining closed for the entire duration of the works.

The project is financed by the Canary Islands Development Fund (FDCAN), managed in Lanzarote by the vice-president and counselor of Planning and Project Coordination, María Jesús Tovar. The project was awarded for an amount of 420,824.40 euros, allowing for the execution of a necessary intervention to improve the safety, trafficability, and durability of the pavement on one of the most relevant access roads to Famara.

"An evident deterioration"

The Minister of Public Works, Jacobo Medina, highlighted that "we are fulfilling the commitment to modernize and improve the island's road network. The Famara road showed obvious deterioration and it was essential to act." In this regard, he added that the closures may cause inconvenience, "but this work will guarantee safer access and a road in optimal condition for residents and visitors." Medina also indicated that "this action is part of the Improvement and Maintenance Plan for island roads that we have promoted from the public works department of the Cabildo de Lanzarote."

The Cabildo of Lanzarote requests the understanding and patience of road users during the execution of the works, recalling that this is an essential intervention to improve road safety and the quality of island infrastructures.
