The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo; the mayor of Arrecife, Astrid Pérez, and the CEO of the Centers for Art, Culture and Tourism, Benjamín Perdomo, visited the facilities of the Islote de Fermina this Friday, which will open its doors to the public again during the first half of next March.

Corujo was pleased that "such an emblematic place as this, the work of César Manrique, can be enjoyed again by the population of Lanzarote, further enriching the marina and the coastline of the island's capital."

The highest island official expressed her satisfaction for the unblocking of facilities that have been closed for more than a decade, "with the deterioration that this causes to an enclave that must become, on its own merits, a reference of the island's geography", while praising the good harmony and institutional cooperation, "fundamental for a project of this magnitude to finally see the light."

With a view to its imminent opening, the three institutions have been coordinating and articulating action protocols for months in order to provide this strategic space with new content oriented to the public use of all Lanzarote residents.

In this sense, the municipal officials conveyed their intention that the Islote de La Fermina can soon house an integrating leisure offer designed for all types of audiences, becoming a great opportunity for growth for the island of volcanoes, in general, and for Arrecife, in particular.
