The Heritage Councillor of the Cabildo, Carmen Rosa Márquez, will have to appear in the Plenary Session of the Cabildo to be held next Friday to give explanations about the file opened to the businessman Juan Francisco Rosa, for the works he is carrying out in the old Finca Las Salinas hotel. The institution has been aware of the works in this protected building since at least June 2015, but since then there is no record that it has done anything to prevent them from continuing.
The appearance has been requested by the Podemos group in the Cabildo, which demands that the councillor report on the file opened by the institution. La Voz revealed part of that file three weeks ago, but the only thing that the head of Heritage has declared so far is that those documents "should not have come to light". She even stated that she would give a warning in the department so that the workers have "more caution" because, in her opinion, there was "a lack of secrecy".
The two reports to which this media had access indicate that the works have caused "irreversible damage" to the heritage values of this property. In addition, they reflect that in June 2015, a Heritage guard already reported that "a large hole" had been opened in the facade. More than a year later, two other inspection visits were carried out, in which they confirmed that this "large hole" had been closed "by means of stones and cement", and also detected new damage caused to the heritage values of the building.
Among them, that "a large part of the doors of the house" had been "torn off, considerably expanding the original holes of the same"; that "a series of dependencies" of the rear part, protected within the Municipal Inventory, "had disappeared completely"; and that "other heritage elements had been destroyed, such as two sections of beveled walls that limited the perimeter of the front gardens, the large threshing floor that was in the lateral part, the rear cistern and demolition of the entire set of dependencies associated with the main house and where the stables were located".
In addition to demanding explanations about this file, Podemos also asks that in that appearance the councillor report on the removal of the container that the Tourist Centers installed in front of the MIAC of the Castillo de San José, which has been without permission for a year and a half and with requirements from the Seprona; and on the progress of the sanctioning file opened for the intervention in the Cueva de los Verdes, "which destroyed a rock at the entrance without the pertinent permits".
