The Government of the Canary Islands has assumed the processing of sanitation and purification infrastructures on the island of La Graciosa. Therefore, the Environment Area of the Cabildo of Lanzarote publicly expresses its satisfaction.
This decision will allow the development of "an essential project" for the environmental protection and improvement of the quality of life in this emblematic island territory, as defended by the first island institution in a press release.
"With this collaboration between the Cabildo of Lanzarote and the Government of the Canary Islands, we are one step closer to solving a historical problem in La Graciosa, a place that deserves to have infrastructures that are up to its environmental and tourist importance," said the president of the Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort.
The project, which contemplates the construction of pumping stations, pipelines and a treatment plant in different key points of the island, responds to the urgent need to update and improve existing infrastructures, thus guaranteeing the sustainability and protection of an environment of high ecological value, included in the Natura 2000 Network.
Samuel Martín, coordinator of the Environment Area, has positively valued this decision, pointing out that "the support of the Government of the Canary Islands is fundamental to advance in the implementation of the necessary infrastructures that will guarantee a modern and efficient sanitation system in La Graciosa. This project is not only vital to preserve the natural environment of the island, but also to ensure the well-being of its residents and visitors."
The Cabildo of Lanzarote reiterates its commitment to the protection of the environment and the improvement of essential infrastructures in all the islands, thanking the Government of the Canary Islands "for its willingness to collaborate in this crucial project."
