The mayor of Tinajo, Jesús Machín, signed two decrees this Tuesday related to the economic situation and the health crisis generated by Covid-19. In the first of them, taking into account that "the closure of a large part of the national economic activity will cause situations of economic emergency to many families in the municipality", Machín has decided to "reduce, with effect from March 14, 2020 and for the duration of the pandemic state declared by the WHO, the remuneration of the mayor, councilors with release and eventual personnel by 10 percent." Since the beginning of this mandate, all the councilors of the CC government group have been released, and in the case of the mayor his salary was 3,200 euros gross per month.

"Gestures like this are necessary," the mayor defended. "I would like all public officials in this country to do the same, because many things would be improved in this country and Dante-esque images like the ones we have seen these days would not be seen, with health personnel using garbage bags with duct tape to be able to work," he said.

In addition, the mayor of Tinajo has resolved, in view of "the accumulation of requests from users of the municipal Social Services" and observing "the drastic change in the way of interacting with the administration by users of the municipal Social Services due to the strict health protocols that must be carried out in the state of alarm", to modify several sections of the municipal ordinance regulating the Social Emergency Aid of the City Council of Tinajo, "providing much more agility to the process of granting aid and doubling the amount of aid".

In this way, the City Council of Tinajo affirms that "it wants to contribute and help the citizens in the face of the emergency situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and its economic consequences".

On the other hand, the City Council of Tinajo has declared official mourning for the duration of the pandemic situation, "in honor and recognition of the people who died during its period of duration" and will place "the flags that fly in the municipal buildings at half-staff and with black crepe", requesting the population that "every day, at 12:00 hours, a minute of silence be observed in honor of our deceased fellow citizens".

Finally, Machín wanted to "congratulate the staff of the City Council of Tinajo and the Local Police and, especially, the collaboration of the Civil Protection volunteers for the great work they are doing and our Social Services, the most sacrificed part in these days of health and economic crisis generated by COVID-19".
