The Governing Council of the Cabildo of Lanzarote has given the green light this Monday to the regulatory agreement for the management and operation of the Islote de Fermina, whose works finished almost three years ago. “This is one of the last administrative requirements of this island project designed by and for everyone”, highlighted the president, María Dolores Corujo.

The document establishes that the Tourist Centers will be responsible for the integral management of a public space that will be used for leisure and nautical activities and that will be the headquarters of the Coastal Observatory of Lanzarote. It will also have a bar-cafeteria service.

Among other clauses, the document establishes that the Cabildo of Lanzarote and the Tourist Centers will share equally (each 40%) the result of the annual operation of the center, whether positive or negative, and the Arrecife City Council the remaining 20%.

"The approval of the agreement will allow us to face the opening of a leisure and recreation center that will give Arrecife the opportunity for the future it deserves", Corujo defended, who affirms that from the Cabildo they will continue to provide "all the collaboration to be able to put this emblematic space of the Arrecife Marina at the disposal of the citizens as soon as possible”.

The agreement will have a validity of four years, with an annual extension up to a maximum of another four.

Since the works finished -after a first remodeling more than a decade ago that never opened-, the Isolote has hosted some specific events, but it has not yet opened to the public.
