In the new Urban Park of Playa Honda, which is already in a fairly advanced state of execution, more than 4,000 plants will be planted between trees and cacti. In addition, it should be remembered that last July the LED lighting was installed on the adjoining road that was also opened to traffic.
The Vice President and Head of Public Works of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Jacobo Medina, recently visited the area to learn about the number of trees and vegetation that will be planted in the future Urban Park of Playa Honda.
"We have invested nearly 300,000 euros for the acquisition of more than 700 trees and nearly 3,000 cacti and shrubs that will beautify this great space that we are creating from the area of Public Works, thus generating a new green lung on the island," said Medina, who thanked the City Council of San Bartolomé for the cooperation and communication to carry out this work.
This road that connects the football field with Alisios street has generated 145 new parking spaces, 8 of them PMR, and two parking spaces for electric vehicles; while the 58 spaces in the current esplanade of Playa Honda are also maintained.
"We continue to take steps forward to have this great project that is the Urban Park of Playa Honda as soon as possible, a space that will be enjoyed by the residents of the town and that will also be a meeting place for young and old," added Medina.
The Urban Park of Playa Honda is a work drafted in 2021 and for which the Cabildo of Lanzarote allocates an amount of three million euros, financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), within the Sustainable Urban Development strategy "Conurban Azul" of the Sustainable Growth Operational Program 2014-2020.
