The César Manrique Foundation has publicly shown its support for the demonstration called for next Sunday, October 20 in Puerto del Carmen against mass tourism.
The mobilization is scheduled for 12:00 in the morning, starting at Plaza de Las Naciones, in Los Pocillos, to the Fariones hotel and will run along one of the most touristy avenues on the island and cover a distance of 3.8 kilometers.
"The islands are reaching an absurd, clumsy overcrowding, where they are killing everything", the Foundation began by quoting some statements by the multidisciplinary artist César Manrique from 1973, in a video that he has shared through his official Instagram account.
"Once again, tourist overcrowding. Stop now. Demonstrate", they continued in the same publication. The Foundation concluded by saying that: "Lanzarote is dying. The Canary Islands have a limit" and encouraging the population of the islands to take to the streets this Sunday to demand a change in the tourism model and thus continue with the demands that last April 20 thousands of Canarians took to the streets.
The Foundation has thus joined other groups such as Ecologistas en Acción, one of the organizers of the mobilization, which asked the population to mobilize this past Wednesday.
