The course could finally not start in person in Lanzarote and start the same way the previous one ended: online. This has been confirmed to La Voz from the press office of the Ministry of Education, after the announcement by the regional government that the restrictions agreed for the islands with the highest incidence of coronavirus will be extended for another week.
Initially, these restrictions were agreed for 14 days, to try to control the chain of infections. However, this Friday it has been decided to extend them for another week, until September 19, which would affect the start of the course, which was scheduled for the 16th. Among other things, these restrictions include the prohibition of events with more than 10 people.
After learning of this announcement, the Ministry has indicated to La Voz that, at least the first days of the course, would have to start telematically. However, they later clarified that the final decision will be made on the 10th, as had already been announced. On that date, the situation of the entire archipelago is expected to be analyzed, to see if classes can start in person or if they have to start telematically. In addition, as the Minister announced, different decisions could be taken by islands, depending on the situation of each one.
