The Lanzarote Safety and Emergency Consortium has launched the Safe Trick or Treat campaign, an initiative aimed at promoting prevention and safety during the Halloween celebration in Lanzarote and La Graciosa.

The president of the Lanzarote Safety and Emergency Consortium, Francisco J. Aparicio, stressed that "the objective of this campaign is for children, young people, and adults to enjoy Halloween night in complete safety, avoiding accidents that can mar a day of fun every year."

In addition, the key to this action is to avoid accidents and risky situations, especially among the youngest, ensuring that the most terrifying night of the year is enjoyed responsibly and without incidents.

The campaign includes a series of basic recommendations on road safety, responsible use of costumes, and safe decoration in homes, as well as specific advice for parents. These include highlighting the importance of minors always being accompanied by an adult, using reflective clothing or flashlights to be visible in the dark, and avoiding entering unknown homes.

Likewise, it is recommended to exercise extreme caution with food and sweets, always checking their origin and ingredients in case of allergies, and to avoid small objects or hard candies for children under three years of age.

The Consortium also insists on road safety, reminding drivers that they must drive slowly, pay special attention to pedestrians, and avoid consuming alcohol or drugs while driving.

Regarding decoration, the document advises replacing candles with LED lights or glow sticks, keeping walkways clear, and using non-flammable materials to prevent fires.

Aparicio also highlighted the importance of collective awareness, stating that "prevention is the best tool we have to guarantee everyone's safety, and the Consortium continues to work to promote a culture of self-protection among citizens."
