The Official State Gazette published this Tuesday the approval of the acoustic aeronautical easements of the César Manrique Lanzarote airport, the noise map and the action plan, which implies that approximately 1,000 homes in Playa Honda will be soundproofed, and another 600 in neighboring municipalities.
“It is a really important and happy day, because we see how our demands are met, although we will continue fighting as until now for approximately another 600 homes that we believe could be affected by acoustic easement. Thanks to the repeated allegations made by the San Bartolomé City Council, a total of 600 homes in the neighborhood of Matagorda and Argana Alta will also benefit. This is the result of the work and effort of the San Bartolomé City Council fighting for the inconveniences generated by airport activity in people's lives, affecting their rest,” says the mayor, Alexis Tejera.
According to sources from the Consistory, on November 30, 2020, the commitment to soundproof approximately 1,000 homes in the town of Playa Honda was closed in the Monitoring Commission of the Acoustic Easement Plan, and this Tuesday the BOE officializes this commitment. “These are long procedures, this year the phase of submitting subsidy applications by residents to AENA will begin after a call that will be made and that will include a round of explanatory meetings while the City Council will open an office to mediate between neighbors and AENA”, they reported from the City Council at that time.
Now, they remember that in the different allegations presented, the Consistory "clearly showed its vision of not sharing that the population affected by airport noise was the one initially planned by AENA", having managed to go from 100 homes to around 1,000. In addition, he insists that they will continue fighting "for approximately another 600 more."
In this regard, Tejera states that Aena has committed to carry out "real measurements in 2022, which contemplate a much wider range than the one initially proposed, which will reflect the real number of homes affected by acoustic easements of the César Manrique airport, defended by the City Council in numerous allegations and meetings”. Regarding the duration of the soundproofing procedure, he points out that “it will begin in 2021 and conclude in 2025”.
