The Arrecife City Council has rejected "forcefully" the sexist aggression suffered this past Saturday by the journalist of Radio Televisión Canaria Raquel Guillán when she was making a live connection from Lanzarote to report on the evolution of the haze. As La Voz has already published, this worker was surprised by an individual who "kissed her without any consent", an aggression that has already been reported.
The mayor of Arrecife, Ástrid Pérez, has spoken personally this Monday morning with Raquel Guillán and has shown her "solidarity and support". The mayoress has shown her rejection of "this type of sexist behavior towards women" and has lamented that "attitudes of gender violence still persist in a part of society, including many young people".
In parallel, the Councilor for Social Services, Equality and Immigration, and spokesperson for the PP in the City Council, María Jesús Tovar, in telephone communication with the assaulted journalist, also offered her solidarity and the legal and assistance support of the Consistory for the actions she decides to take.
The Arrecife City Council reminds that, for the first time in the municipality's festivities, a Violet Point has been installed in this year's carnivals to prevent and support the eradication of sexist violence.
