The Governing Council of the Cabildo of Lanzarote recently approved the file and the opening of the tender procedure for the Ordinary Conservation Service of the Road Network of the Island Cabildo of Lanzarote, with a maximum budget of 6,797,452.20 euros plus 475,821.65 euros in respect of IGIC, which raises the total investment to more than 7.2 million euros.
This contract will guarantee the continuous improvement of the island's road network through conservation and maintenance actions that include the pavement, horizontal and vertical signage, safety elements, and other complementary infrastructures.
"From the first Corporation, we are allocating a very important investment for the conservation of our roads, a determined action to guarantee the safety and quality of our road infrastructures," says the president of the Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort, who explains that "with this contract, we respond to a social demand that is repeated in all the municipalities of the island and we fulfill the commitment to act with planning, rigor and a vision of the future."
For her part, the vice president of the Cabildo, María Jesús Tovar, has stressed the importance of the conservation of island roads as "a key tool to extend the useful life of our roads and avoid much more expensive emergency interventions." "This contract," adds Tovar, "not only allows us to maintain the roads in optimal conditions, but also to plan and prioritize actions with technical criteria."
Among the actions to be carried out by the successful bidder are those of an immediate nature, that is, those that are requested by the competent authority (Civil Guard, Local Police, Security and Emergency Consortium), and that require rapid action to resolve a serious security problem. In addition, those scheduled actions related to conservation and maintenance will also be carried out in order to ensure the conditions of roadworthiness and safety corresponding to each of the sections of the different island roads, public lighting and traffic light network.
