The Cabildo of Lanzarote, through the Department of Public Works, has announced a tender to award the project for the rehabilitation of the pavement of the LZ-701 road, the old road that connects the southern towns of Yaiza and Playa Blanca.

The president of the Cabildo, María Dolores Corujo, explained that "this road, currently converted into a Cycle Route, has asphalt in a terrible state, so it is very necessary to act on the road to guarantee safety." The works, which will be co-financed with own funds from the Corporation and FDCAN Funds, contemplate an investment of close to 2.5 million euros.

For his part, the councilor of the Department of Public Works, Planning and Project Coordination, Jacobo Medina, details that "the current situation of the asphalt pavement of this road is of superficial aging, with significant cracks and general subsidence in the filling areas and local areas on drainage and service works. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the traffic conditions of this road and also reinforce the signage."

In this way, the bionda barriers that currently exist will be renewed, whose posts do not comply with current regulations on containment systems. Likewise, action will be taken on about fifteen transverse drainage works that channel rainwater crossing the road and whose construction dates back more than thirty years.

The planned execution period for these works will be two months. The resurfacing works will focus between the roundabout located south of the town of Yaiza and the La Molina roundabout, in the tourist center of Playa Blanca.

According to the Cabildo, all information about this tender can be found on the State Contracting Platform https://contrataciondelestado.es/.
