The Cabildo of Lanzarote, through the Public Works area, has completed the work to improve road safety in the surroundings of the well-known Las Grietas road, an intervention that has included the installation of new guardrails with the aim of reinforcing protection in one of the sections with the highest traffic of vehicles and pedestrians on the island.
The councilor and head of the area, Jacobo Medina, pointed out that this action "responds to an urgent need to improve the safety of a very busy road, where in recent months there has been a growing presence of vehicles parked improperly on the sides of the road, generating risky situations for both drivers and pedestrians."
With the placement of the new containment systems, parking on the shoulders is avoided, the use of the road is ordered and visibility is improved, in addition to protecting users against possible road departures.
"From Public Works we have acted responsibly, listening to security groups, the road users themselves and the residents of the area. This measure not only improves circulation, but also preserves a natural environment that we must protect," added Medina.
The Las Grietas road is a point of great tourist and landscape attraction in Lanzarote, very frequented by both residents and visitors. With this intervention, the Cabildo of Lanzarote reinforces its commitment to a safer, more sustainable road network adapted to the new mobility needs of the island.
