The Cabildo of Lanzarote has decreed the suspension of outdoor activities from this Tuesday until the end of the heat pre-alert, between 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.
The suspension of activities includes all those recreational, leisure, sports activities dependent on municipal schools, the practice of hunting, and all activities related to senior centers. Likewise, the Consortium recommends the suspension of those activities that, despite being carried out in closed facilities, cannot guarantee adequate air conditioning.
The decision was made this Tuesday, in a meeting held between the Security and Emergency Consortium and the different town councils of the island, after the continued situation of high temperatures suffered by the island and after the Government of the Canary Islands suspended non-university educational activity on Wednesday and Friday.
"We have to take measures in the face of this anomalous situation, to guarantee the safety of citizens at all times," says the president of the Security and Emergency Consortium, Francisco Aparicio.
