The Cabildo of Lanzarote has reinforced the legal services of the island Corporation with the appointment of David Monte López as the new Insular Director of the Presidency Area, an incorporation aimed at strengthening the legal advice and legal certainty of the Institution.

Monte López is a **law graduate** and has been practicing as a lawyer since **2011**. Throughout his professional career, he has been assigned to the **public defender's office**, as well as **comprehensive assistance in Gender Violence (VIOGEN) cases**. His academic training is complemented by two master's degrees, one in **Sports Law** and another in **Procedural Practice**, which attest to his solid legal preparation.

In the field of Public Administration, he has handled the processing of contentious-administrative proceedings, serving, among other positions, as a lawyer for the Lanzarote Water Consortium, an experience that has allowed him to gain direct knowledge of institutional functioning and the defense of public interests.

This appointment comes after the resignation of Luis Alvarado Martínez as insular director of European Affairs, Agenda 2030, and Economic Promotion, to whom the Cabildo de Lanzarote has expressly thanked for the work carried out during his tenure.

The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, has highlighted that “with this appointment we strengthen the legal services of the island institution, something fundamental to guarantee legal certainty, rigor in decision-making, and the correct defense of the general interest”.

Betancort further emphasized that "David Monte López's professional experience and specialized training represent added value for the Cabildo's internal operations and for continuing to advance responsible, transparent, and effective management."
