The Cabildo of Lanzarote organized this Tuesday an act to observe a minute of silence in memory of the victim of gender violence in Adeje, in Tenerife, allegedly murdered by her ex-partner.

The act took place from 12:00 hours on the main facade of the headquarters of the Cabildo of Lanzarote and was attended by political representatives and workers of the Island Corporation.

President María Dolores Corujo lamented "the black month that the country has experienced" in relation to fatal victims of gender violence and showed her strong rejection "of a scourge that is leaving a sad and bleak, as well as worrying, scenario."

"From the Public Administrations we have to continue working to improve aid and care for victims and to try to eradicate a problem that we have historically dragged and that has intensified alarmingly in recent times," concluded the president.

The victim was 46 years old and the alleged perpetrator of the murder was her ex-partner, 44 years old, who also allegedly caused damage to one of the woman's children when he tried to defend her.
