The Minister of Transport of the Cabildo, Nerea Santana, has defended herself and has apologized after receiving complaints from users for not returning the change on the intercity buses of Lanzarote during the coronavirus pandemic. "I am very sorry for the people who may have been inconvenienced," Santana said.

Precisely, these days, a mother addressed La Voz to complain about this measure, stating that her son, a minor, "forgot his card and was charged 5 euros for a trip from the Court to the Cabildo." "It's a scam in every way," said this indignant woman, who also wondered who was keeping this money.

"It didn't come to the Cabildo, obviously. I think the correct thing would have been to take note and go to a point for the return, not at that moment, but later, so that the person could have gone to pick up the return, but I don't know exactly what was done," defended the Minister of Transport, who has stated that she will ask the company awarded the service for explanations in this regard.

In addition, Nerea Santana has confirmed that you can now pay in cash on the buses without it being the exact amount. "It was a measure that was decided at the beginning to avoid contact between the drivers and the users, but the screens have already been placed on the buses and the change will be taken without any problem," she pointed out.

"We also wanted to promote the use of bonuses, so that people would get used to bonuses to pay by card and that it would be more agile, but I know that was a problem for many users and today it is already solved," added the Minister.

However, as reported by the Cabildo this Monday, payment in cash must be made with coins or banknotes of up to 10 euros.

Increase in frequencies and lines

On the other hand, the Minister of Transport has acknowledged that, although the services of the intercity buses of Lanzarote have already increased to 50%, it is still "deficient." "It is true that we are missing another 50 percent, which we are doing little by little," she specified.

"We will wait a little while to try to attend to more people who have needs in terms of new lines or services that are required and we will modify again. The idea is always to adapt to the needs. Let people not be scared, because my will is always to cover the needs of the citizens and we are going to work on it," insisted the Minister, who has stated that "shortly" the frequencies and lines in operation will be increased.
