The Cabildo of Lanzarote is carrying out a cleaning of furniture, rubble and other types of waste on the roads around the city of Arrecife.
This is a coordinated action between the Employment and Environment areas, led by Ascensión Toledo and Samuel Martín respectively, for which about twenty workers hired by the island corporation through the Employment Plan Cuidando Lanzarote y La Graciosa have been assigned.
For its part, the Arrecife City Council collaborates in this initiative through the Cleaning area, led by Jacobo Lemes, which provides the necessary machinery as well as the trays to deposit the rubble.
Both institutions are calling on the public to help keep the areas where action has been taken clean, avoiding the proliferation of illegal landfills.
Four clean points on the island
In this sense, the existence of the clean points belonging to the Cabildo located in Arrecife, Playa Honda, Puerto del Carmen and Playa Blanca is recalled, for the dumping of waste, which are open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Monday to Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., alternately on Sundays; as well as that each City Council has a collection service for belongings.
In addition, the valuable work and involvement of the twenty people who carry out this action through the aforementioned employability plan promoted by the Cabildo is highlighted and that has allowed the hiring of almost 160 unemployed people since September to undertake various cleaning tasks on both islands.
