The Councilor for Public Works, Planning and Project Coordinator of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Jacobo Medina, has announced the launch of an improvement plan for safety on the island's road network. The actions, which will be developed in all seven municipalities, have begun in Yaiza, where new guardrails have been installed that comply with current regulations on containment and safety systems for motorcyclists.
The councilor highlights "the importance of progressively replacing the old models that still exist on many roads on the island with the new barrier systems that minimize risks."

Among the actions already carried out in the southern municipality are also the access roads to the town of El Golfo and the lighting of the roundabout accessing Playa Quemada. Next week, work will continue, including improvements to the LZ-2, near El Cable.
The Plan, which has been developed in coordination with the Road Conservation Service, will allow the implementation of improvements in the protection systems for the most vulnerable, in this case motorcyclists and cyclists, and also in the rest of the equipment, from vertical and horizontal signage to treatment of margins, among others, in order to achieve a "safer and more efficient" circulation, reducing the probability of accidents and their severity," according to the Cabildo.
