The Island Council, through the Society for the Promotion of Foreign Affairs of Lanzarote (SPEL), has signed a sponsorship agreement with the Unión Deportiva Lanzarote, an agreement promoted by the Institution chaired by Oswaldo Betancort to continue strengthening the sporting character of the destination and redouble the support it provides to the island's sports clubs and youth teams.
Oswaldo Betancort and the president of UD Lanzarote, Juan Carlos Albuixech, whose first team is playing for another year in the Third Federation, formalized the agreement this past Monday at the Corporation's headquarters. Betancort, also the councilor responsible for SPEL, has highlighted the importance of this alliance for the tourist projection of Lanzarote and La Graciosa: "The sports tourism model is one of the market niches that we at SPEL are trying to promote, because we have the ideal infrastructure and climate for it. With this sponsorship, we financially support the Club, to which we wish the best sports results, and we strengthen our differentiated tourist image."
For his part, Juan Carlos Albuixech expressed his satisfaction with the sponsorship: "From UD Lanzarote, with the change in the design of the shirt, we wanted to transmit to the outside world the close relationship between the name of UD Lanzarote and the tourist promotion of the island, which is very important. It was clear that the promotion of Lanzarote had to be in front of the shirt, as the standard of our club."
Through this sponsorship, the Lanzarote tourist destination will benefit from outstanding visibility, by including the island's logo and brand on the team's playing, training and leisure kits, as well as in its digital communication and at events.
SPEL-Turismo Lanzarote, which recently signed a similar sponsorship agreement with Unión Sur Yaiza, a team in the Second Federation, "will continue to position the island as a preferred sports destination nationally and internationally," said the island's president, who is also a councilor for SPEL-Turismo Lanzarote.
