The Cabildo of Lanzarote, in collaboration with the Official College of Architects of Lanzarote, creates the I Architecture Rehabilitation Awards of Lanzarote. The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo, highlighted the architectural heritage as "one of the cultural elements with the greatest presence in public spaces" and pointed out that "the singularity of the constructions and the history that many of these house are ideal characteristics to promote awards like these, which will be held for the first time in our history."

For her part, the Councilor for Heritage, Ariagona González, explained that the objective of the initiative is to "award three rehabilitation works completed in the last 10 years that have unequivocally contributed to the conservation of the heritage values present in traditional architecture."

"Through synergy with other institutions, in this case, with the College of Architects, we involve society in this process, valuing, transmitting to future generations and disseminating cultural identity through our heritage," said the councilor.
