The Association of Parliamentary Journalists (APP) has awarded Deputy Ana Oramas and Senator Narvay Quintero, in the award ceremony held annually by journalists covering parliamentary information in the Congress of Deputies and the Senate. Ana Oramas won the "Luis Carandell" Award for her relationship with the media and the senator from the Canarian Coalition-Herreña Independent Grouping (CC-AHI), Narvay Quintero, was awarded as breakthrough senator.

Thus, the "Luis Carandell" Award, which pays tribute to one of the great parliamentary chroniclers who has already passed away, is given to those deputies who have distinguished themselves during the year for their attention and receptiveness towards journalists who cover information daily in the Congress and the Senate. Ana Oramas had been a finalist on four occasions for the APP Awards in the categories of best speaker, breakthrough deputy and best relationship with the media.

For his part, Narvay Quintero was chosen as breakthrough senator among the 265 parliamentarians who are part of the Upper House. Quintero was also a finalist last year in the breakthrough senator category.

The awards are organized by the Association of Parliamentary Journalists (APP), which chooses the most outstanding deputies and senators at the end of each year, through a secret vote of its members. "With both awards, journalists recognize the work of the two Canarian parliamentarians who have the most interventions and initiatives in the Congress and the Senate," according to the Canarian Coalition.
