Before next summer, the president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo, has announced that "the agreement for the transfer of powers from the Port Authority of Las Palmas (APLP) to the Island Institution will be a reality" so that the latter "can directly manage, through a temporary administrative concession, the public use for the citizens of the Arrecife Commercial dock".

The president of Lanzarote has promoted "the formal request for this concession of public port domain by the Cabildo", to "ensure its use for the people of Lanzarote, who will be able to start enjoying this wonderful and emblematic space this year, which should be at the service of the city and the Island”, Corujo pointed out.

For the highest island authority, “the agreement reached with the APLP clearly speaks well of our capacity to enable public spaces and services in the seven municipalities, beyond the reservations of some local leaders". And specifically in Arrecife, "placing special emphasis on initiatives that continue to open the city to the sea”.

"Thus ensuring its use for the people of Lanzarote, to enjoy this wonderful and emblematic space"

"In the request for this important concession, the Cabildo of Lanzarote has followed the precise procedures", she clarifies. After which, "in the middle of this month of March, the Announcement of the Port Authority of Las Palmas was published in the Official State Gazette (BOE) in relation to the request presented by the Institution for a concession to occupy the surface of public port domain of 8,763 m² in the Port of Arrecife", old Commercial dock, in the Functional Area AF-08.

They point out that "the annual administrative concession on the old Commercial dock would have a cost for the Corporation of 55,812 euros", as Luis Ibarra himself, president of the Port Authority of Las Palmas, confirmed a few weeks ago on the Island.
