The Cabildo of Lanzarote has published this Tuesday the tender for the replacement of public lighting on Avenida de Playa Honda. Interested companies may submit their offer until Thursday, January 5.
The Minister of Energy of the Cabildo, Ariagona Gonzalez, explains that the objective of this tender -of approximately one million euros and "financed with own funds"- is to "optimize the energy efficiency of the island and mitigate light pollution".
“We want to renew the public lighting installations of Lanzarote with new elements and new technologies. This will not only allow us to make more responsible use of energy, but we will improve the nocturnal visual environment and the safety conditions of Avenida de Playa Honda”, she adds.
The Minister recalls that this action follows the guidelines of the Integrated National Energy and Climate Plan (PNIEC) 2021+2030, which seeks to meet the objectives of mitigating greenhouse gas emissions and maximize the benefits of sustainability in the economy, employment, health and the environment.
Specifically, the replacement of public lighting on Avenida de Playa Honda is part of the agreement that the Cabildo of Lanzarote and the City Council of San Bartolomé signed to promote actions in the field of renewable energy and energy efficiency.
In this sense, the mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez, values the collaboration between the different administrations to make the municipality a more sustainable and respectful place with the environment.
"It should be remembered that once the work established in the contract is completed, the infrastructure will be transferred to the City Council of San Bartolomé, so the expenses generated by the lighting will be assumed by it", conclude from the Cabildo of Lanzarote.
