The Teguise City Council, one of the creditors of the company Algol, is collecting information through the land registry to send it to the Commercial Court that is processing the [creditors' contest of this real estate developer->76746]. At the moment, it does not know the exact figure that it will demand from Algol as a creditor.

"Now we are in the process of collecting information to be able to contribute it to the Court. I don't know exactly how much will be claimed from Algol, with whom we already tried to reach an agreement, but it has finally entered into bankruptcy proceedings," said the Finance Councilor of Teguise, Miguel Ángel Jiménez.

Beyond the procedures that the City Council has to carry out now in the Commercial Court, the Consistory hopes that the houses already built "will be sold". "The banks are selling them and also at a good price. I trust that it will not remain as a ghost area", said the Councilor for Roads and Works, Echedey Eugenio.

However, part of the area is in a rather deteriorated state. And it is that in some of the plots you can find houses under construction, concrete blocks, but also rubble, graffiti and dirt.

The plots that Algol has are multiple and occupy a large part of the land in Costa Teguise. "The part that they own has almost all had embargoes. I don't know how much land it has, but a lot in Costa Teguise, since the entire plot free of buildings is attached to the Costa Teguise institute, all the back part to the Guardia Civil and the golf course area and more loose plots in the center of Costa Teguise still without building", explained Eugenio.

No effects on the General Plan

The councilor believes that there are not many constructions of this company that have been paralyzed. "I think they only have the urbanization that is on the left of the Institute unbuilt. The others have them finished, what happens is that many are empty", he stated.

Regarding how to fit these plots into the General Plan, Councilor Echedey Eugenio has assured that "it will not affect" the planning, since "they will remain ordered and the same as before". "It stays as it is, with the buildability it had, the same as before", he stated.

Before this real estate developer entered into bankruptcy proceedings, the City Council had tried to negotiate an agreement at the beginning of the drafting of the General Plan. "The City Council kept land in exchange for buildability, but as all the plots had embargoes or financial burdens, the agreement was not signed, which was not even published", explained the councilor.
