The group of early childhood education candidates, both those who passed and those who failed in the opposition that the Ministry of Education of the Government of the Canary Islands decided to invalidate after the irregularities detected, decided this Monday in an assembly to request the regional Executive to offer 275 new places for the early childhood education examinations, as an extraordinary measure to try to resolve the situation generated.
At the meeting, held at the STEC-IC premises in Tenerife and attended by some 150 affected people and representation from the various islands, it was also agreed that a commission should go to the headquarters of the Ministry of Education this Tuesday to request to be received by the Minister, Milagros Luís Brito, to present the proposals agreed yesterday.
Among them, the teachers affected by the suspension, demand that the Ministry of Education maintain the appointments of teachers and that the situation of those who achieved it be maintained, according to the STEC-IC union in a statement.
They also consider that the reasonable thing, in view of the multiple irregularities, is that the procedure be reviewed and the corresponding agreement be adopted so that the rest of the candidates who presented themselves to the early childhood education examination and were not approved are treated with the constitutional principles of merit, equality and capacity.
The assembly also agreed to oppose any dismissals or failure to appoint teachers who have been working until now and proposed urging the other unions to support this agreement adopted yesterday by the affected group, both those who passed and those who failed in the past early childhood education examinations in the Canary Islands.
Later, they plan to hold a new assembly at the STEC-IC premises in La Laguna, next Thursday, August 30 at 6:00 p.m.
