The former councilor of the Cabildo and current spokesperson for the PP in the Tías City Council, Saray Rodríguez, has announced that she will run for the presidency of the PP in the next Congress that is scheduled to be convened on March 16.

“My candidacy is not against anything, nor against anyone, I want to recover the ideas and values of reference of a center-right party, try to open windows, oxygenate the party, opening it to society and that fresh air enters," argues the pre-candidate, who intends to replace Ástrid Pérez.

Saray Rodriguez has become number two in the party on the island, being the island secretary for four years. In addition, she is a practicing lawyer and believes that she has a political experience "more than demonstrated" by having managed the areas of urban planning and public works in the City Council of Tías and in the Cabildo de Lanzarote.

Rodriguez wants to make it clear that she is running to give the party "greater attention, dedication", which is what she understands is "lacking at the moment." “We do it due to the excessive workload of the current management and because it is necessary to re-enthuse our party, our voters, that they have a clear and unique reference in the center right, that they do not feel orphaned. Therefore, we will propose studying different formulas for approaching disenchanted and disillusioned citizens. I will formalize my candidacy as soon as the possibility of presenting the endorsements opens, says the PP councilor.

“We have experienced all kinds of situations and I am proud to say that I belong to the local committee that has the most electoral victories, although I recognize that this party cannot continue to fail in territorial implementation such as Haría and Tinajo, pending subjects for many years,” adds the PP spokesperson in Tias, who has been a member of the party for more than 15 years.

To finish, Rodriguez remembers the members who in recent years have left the PP due to internal disagreements with the current leadership, and assures that she will work to ensure that they return "reunifying the party and avoiding new leaks of talented, independent, trained, prepared people and above all with the ideas and values of the PP"
