The senator of Coalición Canaria Pedro San Ginés appeared this Tuesday at a press conference to assess the dismissal of the legal case against him and the rest of those accused in the INALSA bankruptcy, describing this outcome as the end of a "shameful and unjust political and judicial persecution" which, he stated, "had the sole objective of destroying his public career."

San Ginés recalled that "the judicial order makes it clear that the Public Prosecutor's Office does not oppose the dismissal of the proceedings after the pronouncement of the Supreme Court, which determined that there was no reason to assume jurisdiction over the case as no criminal indications against the senator were apparent from it," and concludes that "nor are there any against the lawyer Ignacio Calatayud, another of the main investigated parties."

In relation to the accusations directed at Calatayud regarding the collection of undue fees, "the order explains that the fee budget was supervised and approved by the Bankruptcy Administration and that the costs derived from the bankruptcy incidents were paid by the condemned entities and not by INALSA or the Consortium. Also that all payments were made in accordance with the agreement with the bankruptcy administration and validated judicially," he assures.

"This order confirms the non-existence of indications of criminal responsibility against Mr. Ignacio Calatayud, neither in his hiring nor in the collection of his fees," said the senator, literally quoting the text of the judicial file.

"About the house and the unfounded accusations"

Regarding the house that was subject to a search with police dogs, San Ginés denounced that "this action was used to sow public suspicion, despite the fact that the order dismisses any irregularity in the transaction, and harshly criticized the use of sensationalist media during the process."

"Dolores Corujo, with the invaluable assistance of the unfair judge Jerónimo Alonso, made people believe that my house was acquired irregularly, but the order concludes that there was no transaction below the market price, and that it has not been possible to discover the existence of payments or any consideration in my favor," explained the senator, citing the report of the Civil Guard.

Lifting of precautionary measures

The order also agrees to lift the preventive embargo and unblock the bank products of the investigated parties, annulling all the precautionary measures that had been dictated. "After years of unjustified embargo of my properties, I will finally be able to freely dispose of them," expressed San Ginés.

"A political persecution by the PSOE"

The senator did not hesitate to point to the Socialist Party as responsible for what he described as a "political complaint orchestrated to harm him." "Dolores Corujo used her position in the Cabildo to hide exculpatory legal reports, deceive the Consortium with external reports, steal official documents and promote a lawsuit based on false accusations, which have now been denied," denounced the senator.

San Ginés highlighted that, during the process, "the socialist leaders groundlessly assured that two million euros of public funds had been diverted, when the order demonstrates that it was not two million, much less public funds, but 700,000 euros, of costs awarded to third-party companies."

In addition, he denounced that "the national PSOE appeared in the case, after the initial dismissal by the Supreme Court to avoid its dismissal, assuming that it did so with the consent of its general secretary and minister of the Government of Spain, Ángel Víctor Torres, demonstrating the involvement of the party at the state level in this strategy, appearance that will be resolved in a separate order, according to the ruling."

End of a long process

San Ginés lamented in his speech "the years of personal and professional wear and tear that this case has entailed, while underlining the importance of this file as a vindication of his innocence."

"Now it has been shown that I was always right. This has been a political persecution that has not only affected me and other people, but also the institutions and their public resources. It is clear that everything was a political and media farce. However, the damage to my reputation is already done, because accusations always have more media echo than acquittals," he concluded.
