The San Bartolomé City Council held a tribute to Sara Díaz, world champion of petanque precision shooting, during the I Toño Rodríguez National Open, a tournament organized by the Toño Rodríguez Bowling and Petanque Club and the City Council that took place last weekend.
The young athlete from Lanzarote, who participated in the event and was one of the finalists, currently holds the title of world and European champion of Petanque Precision Shooting, world champion in the doubles category and Silver Medal in Precision Shooting at the Mediterranean Games.
Isidro Pérez, mayor of the municipality, highlighted the example of effort and work that the young athlete represents for the municipality. "Sara Díaz has been adding awards thanks to her perseverance and absolute dedication to high sports competition, and we are proud that her professional career began in San Bartolomé."
For his part, Raúl de León, Councilor for Sports, thanked the Toño Rodríguez Bowling and Petanque Club for their involvement with the young athletes of San Bartolomé. "We are confident that this is just the beginning of the Toño Rodríguez National Open, and that every year we can bring together petanque lovers in our municipality."
