The San Bartolomé City Council held a new neighborhood meeting in Güime last night, where the mayor, Isidro Pérez, and the municipal team listened to the concerns of the residents, shared information about planned actions, and collected proposals to continue improving the town.

During the meeting, various issues related to infrastructure and public services were addressed, including the renovation of the teleclub and its adjacent courts, as well as the plan to begin the renewal of the town's public lighting by replacing the luminaires with LED technology before the end of the year.

The mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez, highlighted the importance of maintaining these spaces for direct dialogue with the population. “These meetings allow us to hear firsthand the concerns of our residents, explain what we are working on, and collect proposals to continue improving the municipality. We want citizens to have direct information and to be able to convey their needs to us, because governing also means listening and responding.”

The meeting also allowed for the discussion of island-level issues that concern residents, such as problems related to water and public transport difficulties, matters whose management falls under the Cabildo de Lanzarote. The City Council took note of the concerns raised, reaffirming the importance of addressing these issues through coordination between administrations.

Another of the highlighted issues was the neighborhood concern about uncontrolled dumping of furniture and other belongings next to the containers. In this regard, the City Council reminds that there is a home collection service for belongings, which can be accessed by calling 928 819 473, with the aim of facilitating proper waste management and preventing them from ending up abandoned in public spaces.

Isidro Pérez called for citizen collaboration to keep common spaces clean. “We cannot allow incivility to harm the image of our neighborhoods and coexistence. We have a service to collect belongings at home, so we ask residents to use it and avoid leaving them next to the containers. Taking care of San Bartolomé is a shared responsibility.”

The mayor recalled that these types of meetings are part of the municipal commitment to maintain close and continuous communication with the neighborhoods. Throughout the legislature, various meetings have been held to inform, resolve doubts, and address neighborhood concerns, fostering direct contact between the City Council and the citizens.

The City Council "will continue to promote these spaces for participation to learn about the needs of each locality, inform about planned actions, and advance, together with the residents, in the improvement of the services and public spaces of San Bartolomé. The next neighborhood meeting will be at the CSC of Montaña Blanca, on Wednesday, October 28, at 8:00 PM."
