Agents of the National Police, through the Citizen Participation Delegation of the Local Police Station of Arrecife, have given talks on the prevention of school bullying and cyberbullying to nearly 400 students from IES Las Maretas, within the Framework Plan for Coexistence and Improvement of Security in Educational Centers and Their Environments.

The activities have been developed over six days, in which 17 groups of students from 1st to 3rd year of Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO) have participated, with the aim of teaching them to identify bullying situations, know the risks of social networks, and how to act in such cases.

During the talks, the police officers have explained the importance of not staying silent in situations of bullying, threats, or discrimination, reminding students that asking for help or reporting these behaviors does not mean “snitching,” but rather protecting themselves.

The agents have also highlighted the fundamental role of families, teachers, and fellow students in detecting these types of situations in time and preventing them from worsening.

In addition, they have insisted on the need to make responsible use of the internet and social networks, where certain behaviors can spread rapidly and cause serious consequences among young people.

The National Police will continue to develop these activities in other educational centers in Arrecife during the 2026/2027 school year, also addressing issues such as the prevention of alcohol and drug consumption.

These upcoming sessions will be aimed at 4th year ESO students, with the objective of informing them about the risks of consuming these substances and promoting healthy habits, especially in anticipation of celebrations like carnival.

With these initiatives, the National Police seeks to connect with young people, foster respect and coexistence in classrooms, and offer them tools to recognize risky situations and ask for help when they need it.
