The San Bartolomé Town Council inaugurated this Tuesday, April 22, a new monumental sculptural ensemble by local artist César Corujo, which expands the artistic and cultural heritage of the municipality.
The mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez, highlighted that this new incorporation "reinforces the Municipal Sculptural Plan, an initiative that seeks to integrate artistic expressions of high cultural value into the public space of the municipality through the promotion of plastic arts".
"We continue working to make San Bartolomé a cultural reference in Lanzarote. This new sculptural ensemble not only beautifies the environment, but also strengthens our identity and connects our roots with the present, and also offers new attractions for those seeking proposals on the island that go beyond sun and beach. Art and landscape is a binomial that, like our vineyards, is rooted in our collective heritage," said the mayor.
The ensemble, located in the vicinity of the Casa Mayor Guerra Palm Grove, stands out for its dimensions and its combination of traditional materials such as wrought iron and stone. The work "dialogues with the local landscape and symbolizes the memory, history and creativity that characterizes the community", as the artist César Corujo himself explained this Tuesday during its inauguration.
It should be noted that the expansion of the San Bartolomé Sculptural Plan also goes hand in hand with collaborations with institutions such as the University of La Laguna, with whom the Town Council has already organized three editions of the Sculpture, Art and Nature Campus in Lanzarote.
These actions "consolidate San Bartolomé as a space where plastic arts are not only contemplated, but also cultivated and valued," they conclude from the Consistory.
