The current president of the Government of the Canary Islands for the second consecutive time, Paulino Rivero, has announced in his inauguration held at the headquarters of the Presidency of Santa Cruz de Tenerife that his "unwaivable values" and those of his new Executive will be "social justice and territorial cohesion".
The re-elected president had an emotional memory for his predecessor in office, the late Adán Martín, and presented himself as "a close president" who will be, together with his Government, "particularly sensitive to those who have less", while announcing that "the worst of the crisis has already passed".
Rivero, who swore his office, stressed that he assumes it "with enormous responsibility and humility and with more strength and enthusiasm if possible than four years ago", when he acceded to the presidency of the regional Executive.
The head of the Government of the Canary Islands has reiterated that he "renews" his "commitment to the Canary Islands" and that his task at the head of the Islands will start from the "to be continued" with which he culminated his mandate during the VII Autonomous Legislature.
In his re-election as Canarian president of this VIII Legislature, Rivero has been supported among other island authorities by the third vice president of the Government of Spain, Manuel Chaves.
