The PSOE of Lanzarote is once again focusing on the "budgetary mistreatment by the Government of the Canary Islands," formed by the Canarian Coalition (CC) and the Popular Party (PP), towards Lanzarote. As the settlement of the General Budgets of the Canary Islands for 2025 approaches, "in the PSOE we fear a low degree of execution, which has been the norm for the last two years of this conservative government, as well as previous legislatures of executives of the same political persuasion," stated María Dolores Corujo Berriel, general secretary of the PSOE of Lanzarote.

For this reason, "our four regional parliamentarians are going to closely monitor the closing of the fiscal year and present as many amendments as necessary to the Canary Islands Budgets of 2026 to ensure that Lanzarote is treated fairly," María Dolores Corujo clarified.

The PSOE recalls that the budgets of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands for the year 2025 were born with "serious deficiencies" towards Lanzarote and La Graciosa, especially in terms of water, social policies and collective equipment, which are overwhelmed.

Corujo has once again described the 2025 budgets as an "intolerable mockery of Lanzarote," and emphasizes that the island was relegated to sixth place in investments, behind islands such as Fuerteventura and La Palma. "Despite the manipulation of figures, when the budget is settled, Lanzarote will receive at least 14% less in investment per inhabitant than Fuerteventura, and 67% less if we discount the fraudulent items," she said.

The Secretary-General of the PSOE once again insisted on the idea that the 2025 budget "is a reflection of the lack of a project for Lanzarote and for the Canary Islands by CC and PP." Corujo stressed that "it is necessary to invest in housing, education, health, research, sustainability, youth, and the care of the elderly and dependent people, but it is clear that Fernando Clavijo and his government prefer propaganda and pleasing minority and privileged sectors to whom they pay homage.”
