The Yaiza City Council opened last Friday to vehicle traffic the section of Avenida Papagayo in Playa Blanca between the church of El Carmen and Maciot street, enabling 65 new angled parking spaces that will reinforce the free parking spots in the center of the tourist town. This section, also subject to total renovation of sidewalks and accessibility work, is now one-way in the direction of Las Coloradas.

The Institution presided over by Óscar Noda will also execute another 35 parking spaces and a loading and unloading zone on the municipal plot located behind the church, a task that is part of this same integral rehabilitation project of Avenida Papagayo that Yaiza is carrying out in phases, investing a total of 2.6 million euros from its budget.

“We are satisfying a demand from residents, workers, tourists, and businesses in the center of Playa Blanca who now have these new angled parking spaces, which facilitate vehicle entry and exit as the section is one-way,” points out Óscar Noda, mayor of Yaiza.

The Councilor for Public Works, Ángel Lago, informs that “the work on Avenida Papagayo continues this week between Maciot and Janubio streets, where we are carrying out the renovation of sidewalks and elimination of architectural barriers to then continue with the asphalting and thus reach the roundabout of Ciudad Jardín, near the Las Coloradas area.”

The work program agreed with the contracting company, Hermanos Tavío Santana, foresees the execution of sidewalks, accessibility, asphalting, and complementary works along the entire avenue and then the construction of the free parking lot behind the church and another one with greater capacity, of 300 spaces, on the municipal esplanade located in front of the Princesa Yaiza hotel. All these actions are included in the same project.
